Mia Del Motte

My journey began in the depths of despair and disconnect. I struggled with multiple conditions throughout my teen years including major depression, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, and problematic substance use. My parents sought help from psychiatrists and therapists to no avail. Following the most traumatic event of my life, I dropped out of high school.

Shortly after, I decided to experiment with a substance known as LSD. I had some idea it might help me, but it mostly was just curious experimentation to continue checking off the list of drugs I’ve taken as if that were some accomplishment. But this was nothing like the previous recreational drugs that led to artificial euphoria followed by rough comedowns. Instead, I felt a flow of negative energy that was trapping me in toxic behaviors transform into a positive charge for potential growth. The world I had been seeing in black and grey had become painted with the most vibrant colors I had ever perceived. This afterglow persisted. Of course, healing is never linear, and I have danced with the spiral of dusk and dawn since. But I will always herald it as the perspective shift that saved my life.

I then finished high school online, and fascinated by the mysteries of the mind, pursued further education in psychology. I now hold degrees in Human Health Psychology (B.S) and Neuropsychology (M.Sc). I currently work in academic research coordinating clinical trials of psilocybin. Immersed in the ways science meets spirituality, I gather knowledge from various systems. I also have certifications in Kundalini + Yin (200 RYT Yoga Alliance) and Psychedelic Integration (ICEERS). I volunteer with Zendo Project to offer peer support services at music festivals, and with Fireside Project to offer psychedelic-related emotional support over the phone.

My intention is to create a space of openness and compassion. I’m a proponent of the idea that the 'inner healer’ within each of us holds the unique answers we need, but also that it sometimes takes external guidance to discover the right questions.
